HP Help
I was trying to setup my new HP laptop with the home network running on Windows 7. I was confident as I had bought a laptop with a logo of Windows 7. I was told by the vendor that “if your router supports Windows Connect Now (WCN), or Wi‑Fi Protected Setup (WPS), then you don’t need any technical help and it’s a child play”. I was supposed to connect laptop with router device and push a button that’s all, and within few seconds it will be automatically configured with the existing network. He had instructed me to avoid entering router security key.

I did the same, but it landed me to nowhere. I was getting the Internet access, but with the error message “Page Not Found”. I tried through various browsers but no way.

Then I decided to contact HP Support to fix it. I pulled out the HP number from a reliable source, and dialed it. It took some time to become live with a technician. I discussed the matter, and after a short documentation, he forwarded me an article regarding setting up and configuring a router device. It was as follows:
  • Restart HP laptop, and get logged on to.
  • Open “Connect to a Network” by clicking the network icon in the notification area.
  • Choose the wireless network from the list that appears, and then click “Connect”.
  • Type the network security key or passphrase and then click “OK”.
  • You'll see a confirmation message when you are connected to the network.
He recommended changing the network location to “Public” to minimize the risk associated with viruses and spyware.

Thanks! HP Help solution was great, I could access the Internet, printer and data, music and video collection from my desktop right on my laptop. The wireless connectivity gave me the pleasure to work from anywhere.

Dell Support
“Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage”, this is the most annoying issues with an Internet connection. It happens with everyone, and is so frequent that you can’t depend every time on a technician to get it fixed. Hence, knowing a bit of troubleshooting is must.

Last night, I came across the same on my Dell PC. After a bit general troubleshooting practice, when I could not succeed, I dialed Dell Number so as to get support from the big boss.

After confirming basic system information he instructed me to temporarily disable the Internet security suite or firewall, and check whether the message is popping up again. It still prevailed. Then the technician forwarded me an article. It was regarding troubleshooting network adapter. Steps were as follows:
  • Click “Start”, click “Run” type “devmgmt.msc”, and then click “OK”.
  • Double-click “Network Adapters”.
What I could see, an exclamation mark icon next to the network adapter in “Device Manager”. He told me to double-click the network adapter and pen down the error code. It came as “Code 10: This device cannot start.” I conveyed it to him.

He said, “Thank you sir, you have got the crux.” Next, he advised me as follow:
  • Click “Update Driver” to update the drivers for this device.
  • Click the “General Properties” tab of the device, and then click “Troubleshoot” to start the “Troubleshooting Wizard”.
Eventually, the problem was resolved. I was able to open the Google page. I filled my credit card detail to transact the payment; later on the Dell Support technician asked for the feedback. I was completely dazed with the kind of Dell Help. I rated the service as “Excellent”, and thanked him for his timely assistance.

Finally Came Out Of Freezing Issue of My Laptop

Compaq support
I took one deep breath after my system’s issues was finally resolved. I have been successfully using my Compaq’s laptop over a longer period of time, but last weekend it just froze on me all of a sudden. It was an intermittent issue, and I was unable to use it properly, and whenever I started up any of the software applications, it used to hang up in between.

I tried to remove some of the recently installed software applications, but nothing worked out. It was frustrating, as that was the first time; I ever had any technical difficulty in my laptop. I straightaway dialed Compaq number, to get immediate resolution, and finally got the solution to my system’s issue.

The Compaq help technician on the other side instantly detected the root cause of the issue, and performed a couple of troubleshooting steps for hard reset, which took me out of that technical difficulty within no time, so here are some of the steps that I followed to get rid of the issue:
  • Step 1: Initially, I was told to disconnect all the external peripherals attached to my laptop such as printer, memory card, USB devices, which facilitated the technician to quickly detect the root cause of the issue.
  • Step 2: After that, I was instructed to detach the AC adapter, and remove the battery. In order to release the electricity charge, I kept the power button pressed for 10 seconds.
  • Step 3: Next step was to connect the AC adapter again to the laptop without reconnecting the battery cover. After sometime, I released the power button and reconnected everything all over again and restarted the system. Laptop was operating normally; I immediately turned off the machine and reinstalled the battery pack.
The above-mentioned troubleshooting steps for hard reset corrected my system’s issues. If you are also facing the same technical challenge, you can initiate the given steps on your own before contacting Compaq support, which certainly save lots of your precious time.
